Kalimat Pasif dengan Objek Ganda

Beberapa kata kerja dalam bahasa Inggris dapat diikuti oleh dua objek: objek langsung (direct object) (benda yang diberikan, ditunjukkan, dikirim, dll.) dan objek tidak langsung (indirect object) (orang yang menerima benda tersebut).

Ketika kita mengubah kalimat-kalimat ini menjadi bentuk pasif, salah satu objek dapat menjadi subjek kalimat pasif. Hal ini memberi kita dua kemungkinan struktur pasif.

1. Objek Langsung vs. Objek Tidak Langsung

Mari kita identifikasi kedua objek dalam kalimat aktif berikut:

  • Aktif: The company sent me (Objek Tidak Langsung) a letter (Objek Langsung).

Kata kerja umum yang dapat memiliki objek ganda meliputi:

  • give, send, show, lend, pay, offer, tell, teach, buy, write, bring

2. Struktur 1: Objek Tidak Langsung sebagai Subjek

Konstruksi pasif yang paling umum digunakan dalam bahasa Inggris adalah menempatkan orang (objek tidak langsung) sebagai subjek kalimat pasif.

Rumus: Subject (Orang) + to be + Verb 3 + Objek Langsung + (by + pelaku)

Menggunakan contoh kalimat sebelumnya:

  • Aktif: The company sent me a letter.
  • Pasif: I was sent a letter by the company.
    Saya dikirimi surat oleh perusahaan.

Contoh Lainnya:

  • Aktif: She gave John a promotion.
  • Pasif: John was given a promotion by her.
    John diberikan promosi olehnya.
  • Aktif: They showed us the new prototype.
  • Pasif: We were shown the new prototype.
    Kami ditunjukkan prototipe baru.

3. Struktur 2: Objek Langsung sebagai Subjek

Kita juga dapat memilih untuk menjadikan benda (objek langsung) sebagai subjek kalimat pasif. Ketika melakukan hal ini, kita harus menambahkan kata depan (to atau for) sebelum objek tidak langsung (orang).

Rumus: Subject (Benda) + to be + Verb 3 + to/for + Orang + (by + pelaku)

Menggunakan contoh kalimat sebelumnya:

  • Aktif: The company sent me a letter.
  • Pasif: A letter was sent to me by the company.
    Sebuah surat dikirimkan kepada saya oleh perusahaan.
